Celebrate World Beach Day!
Did you know that Galicia is the region of the Iberian Peninsula with the most kilometres of coastline? Galicia has indeed an Alma Atlántica (Atlantic soul) 😉
To celebrate World Beach Day, we suggest some Galician beaches that you must visit!
Rodas Beach (Cíes Islands):
- Why visit it: Considered one of the best beaches in the world for its white sand and crystal clear waters, Rodas Beach has a spectacular natural setting. This paradisiacal beach is located in the Maritime-Terrestrial National Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia, which guarantees incredible landscapes and an impressive biodiversity as it is in a protected natural area.
A Lanzada Beach (O Grove/Sanxenxo):
- Why visit it: This long beach is an iconic spot in the Rías Baixas. It is perfect for surfers due to its waves, but it is also ideal for people looking to enjoy the sun and the sea. Also, close to the beach is the Ermita de la Lanzada, a place full of legends and spectacular views.
Carnota Beach (Carnota):
- Why visit it: With more than 7 kilometres in length, Carnota Beach is one of the longest beaches in Galicia. Its length and the natural environment in which it is located make it a perfect destination for lovers of tranquillity. It also offers stunning views of Monte Pindo and the mouth of the river Xallas.
Barra Beach (Cangas do Morrazo):
- Why visit it: Located on the Morrazo Peninsula, Barra Beach is known for its wild beauty. It is a beach of fine white sand, surrounded by a pine forest that offers natural shade and a very relaxing environment. Its waters are calm, ideal for swimming and enjoying nature.
Cristales Beach (Laxe):
- Why visit it: This small and unique beach is famous for being covered with small crystals polished by the sea. In the past, it was a glass bottle dump, but over time, the waves transformed the broken glass into millions of small rounded and shiny pieces, creating a unique landscape. It’s a very picturesque and special beach, ideal for those looking for something out of the ordinary.
Pick up some packs of Alma Atlantica minis, some bocadillos (sandwiches) in the purest Galician beach style, and enjoy these paradisiacal places! 🥂🌊
